Add the button to Instagram.
Instagram doesn’t let anyone add real buttons inside its app, and there’s no API for your Saved folder. So Unshelf lives in the one menu Instagram does open on every post: Share. Pick your device.
Android · Chrome
- Install Unshelf as an app (Chrome menu ⋮ → Add to Home screen → Install).
- Open Instagram, tap the paper-plane Share icon on any reel or post → Share to… (or “More”) → choose Unshelf.
- Unshelf opens with the link filled in. Add a one-line note, tap Make it a plan.
This works because the installed app registers as an Android share target. Chrome, Edge, Brave and Samsung Internet all support it. If Unshelf isn’t in the list, open it once from the home screen and try again.

Instagram DM bot
phase 2 · wired, needs Meta reviewThe most native feel: Share → send the reel to @unshelf → the bot replies with your plan link. Uses the Instagram Messaging API. The webhook already exists at /api/instagram/webhook; it needs a Meta app, an Instagram professional account and App Review for messaging.
Forward the reel link to Unshelf’s WhatsApp number and get the plan back in chat, plus weekly “what’s collecting dust” nudges. Same pattern via the WhatsApp Cloud API.
